Clwyd South AM Ken Skates attends older people’s event in Corwen

Assembly Member Ken Skates was the guest speaker at an event aimed at highlighting the success of older people’s groups in Denbighshire.

Mr Skates, the Labour AM for Clwyd South, attended the Corwen Hubbub Forum at Canolfan Ni along with Older People’s Commissioner for Wales Sarah Rochira on Friday, May 1.

The event, which was organised by Age Connects, also saw the pair take questions from retired local people on the issues affecting them.

Mr Skates said: “It was fantastic to meet some inspirational people who go the extra mile for their communities and to hear their success stories. I really enjoyed it the event. It was good to see Sarah again too and to discuss a range of issues which affect my older constituents day to day.”

Ms Rochira said: “I have spent a lot of time in Denbighshire over the last year and have been very impressed with the work under way to make it a good place to grow older.

“The Corwen Hubbub Forum provides an excellent opportunity for older people to remain engaged with their communities, share their views on local issues and have their voices heard. Older people are experts by experience and it is essential that our public services work effectively with groups like the Hubbub Forum to improve local services.”
