Clwyd South AM Ken Skates urges health board to consider new facility for Cefn Mawr

Clwyd South Assembly Member Ken Skates is calling on health board bosses to help create a new GP practice in Cefn Mawr.

Labour AM Mr Skates has discussed a potential move for the village’s Caritas Surgery with local councillors – and says he will do everything he can to make it happen.

He is now in the process of arranging a meeting with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) chief executive Trevor Purt and chairman Peter Higson and ‘will be pushing for them to consider a new facility in Cefn as soon as possible’.

“The health board is aware that Caritas Surgery has been looking at a potential purchase of new premises to relocate within the village, and I know it’s something which has been talked about for a long time,” said Mr Skates.

“One of the major issues that often crops up when I talk to people in Cefn is the need for a new GP surgery to replace the existing premises, so I’m looking forward to sitting down and discussing the options and seeing how we can move things forward.”

Caritas Surgery, on Well Street, also has branches in Coedpoeth and at Glyndwr University.

Mr Skates added: “If we could get Cefn a new health facility it would be a massive boost for the area and would benefit thousands of people. The partners and the wider public are determined for this to happen – and I am determined to help them.”
