Clwyd South AM Ken Skates visits Eyton Primary School festive fair

A VILLAGE school marked the start of the festive season with a Christmas fair attended by Assembly Member Ken Skates.

Mr Skates, the Labour AM for Clwyd South, was invited to the event at Eyton Primary School on Friday afternoon (November 29) by chairman of governors Neil Hawkey.

He said: “I really enjoyed my visit and it was great fun browsing the stalls run by parents and members of the PTA and chatting to teachers and the children.

“Eyton is a small rural school but it has an excellent reputation and the Christmas event was a great way to start the festive season proper. Everyone is so friendly there – I can always rely on a warm welcome when I visit Eyton.”

Mr Hawkey recently gave Mr Skates a tour of the school, whose performance and prospects for future improvement were both rated ‘good’ by Estyn inspectors last year.

Mr Hawkey said: “It was great to see Ken and an honour to have him visit the school again. It was fantastic to see him interacting with the children and the teachers and parents enjoyed meeting him too.

“We are very grateful for Ken’s continued support and everything he does for the community, and he’s welcome to come and visit us again any time.”
