Clwyd South AM Ken Skates ‘concerned’ about ‘inappropriate’ pay rise

Commenting on the news that the independent body which sets Assembly Members’ salaries is to continue with plans to give AMs a £10,000 a year pay rise, Ken Skates said he was ‘surprised’ that only 65 people responded to a public consultation.

He added: “I immediately expressed my reservations when the independent Remuneration Board’s proposals were first mentioned in November, as did my fellow Labour AMs.

“I remain deeply concerned about these inappropriate plans during such incredibly tough economic times and given the ongoing austerity that many in Clwyd South and across Wales are suffering from.”
