Rhostyllen pub to host race night in aid of Plas Madoc Leisure Centre campaign

A village pub will host a race night this weekend as part of the ongoing fundraising campaign to save Plas Madoc Leisure Centre.

The volunteer-run Splash Community Trust will hold the event at the Old Black Horse in Rhostyllen on Friday night (June 27) from 8pm.

Organisers are appealing for local businesses to help out by sponsoring one of the eight races for £30 and are also asking for people to donate raffle prizes.

Trust director Greg Ogden, who lives in Trevor said: “As well as cash prizes on the night, we will be giving away bottles of wine to the ‘owners’ of each winning horse. It should be another great night in aid of Plas Madoc and we would ask people to once again show their support for the cause.”

Fellow trust member Jenny Miller added: “The trust would like to thank Keith and Wendy at the pub for contacting us to offer the Old Black Horse as a venue free of charge. It’s a fantastic gesture which will really help us raise as much money as possible.

“We’d also appreciate volunteers to sell bets on the night and would welcome a few bottles of wine to give to the winning owners. Fancy dress with a racing theme or racing attire is optional, but it all adds to the fun!”

To sponsor a race or buy a horse for the night, or to offer your help or contribute to the trust’s coffers, contact Jenny Miller on 07921 659099 or email [email protected]. You can also donate through the trust’s new PayPal account by visiting https://t.co/VlqCYUVROU.
