Clwyd South AM Ken Skates visits Bronington VA Primary School

CLWYD South AM Ken Skates was full of praise for hard-working pupils after visiting a village school.

The Labour Assembly Member dropped into Bronington VA Primary on Friday (January 10) to meet new headteacher Angie Birkinshaw and the pupil-run school council.

He said: “It was great to go to Bronington and meet Angie and the pupils. There was a really friendly atmosphere within the school and it’s clear how much the teachers and staff care about the children’s futures.

“I answered a variety of questions from the school council, including some about what my job entails, and also discussed some local issues they raised.”

After the school’s last Estyn inspection in January 2012, both the school’s performance and prospects for future improvement were both rated as ‘good’.

Mr Skates added: “I really enjoyed my visit to Bronington, and after hearing some of Angie and her team’s plans for the future I am sure the school’s already-excellent reputation will only get better over the next few years.”

Mrs Birkinshaw said: “We really enjoyed Ken’s visit. The school council asked lots of questions about his role and were all really enthusiastic. Ken is welcome back any time.”
