Police praised after Ruabon speeding crackdown confirmed

Police plans to crack down on drivers speeding through Ruabon have been welcomed.

Assembly Member Ken Skates and local councillor Dana Davies recently called for action following complaints from residents about irresponsible motorists ignoring the 30mph limit on the busy B6505.

The force has responded quickly, with local PC Matthew Rogers contacting Mr Skates this week to outline how police intend to tackle the problem.

PC Rogers confirmed PCSOs and traffic officers will soon be carrying out speed checks and enforcement action in Ruabon. Members of the public will also be asked to help identify offending drivers, with police then following up any complaints.

Go Safe will also target Ruabon to establish the full extent of the problem, and the main road through the village could become a regular enforcement area.

Mr Skates said: “I’m pleased North Wales Police have responded so quickly and positively to my request for action, and I’d like to thank PC Rogers for contacting me with this welcome information. I hope this reassures residents that their concerns are being taken seriously. I’d also like to thank Dana for her help.”

Mr Skates added: “I have also contacted Wrexham Council, and hope to get a similar commitment from them that they are looking to address the issue.”
