Clwyd South AM Ken Skates welcomed the confirmation that Wrexham Council is considering action to combat increasing parking problems on a Brymbo housing estate.
The Labour Assembly Member called for action over the issue of on-street parking in Cheshire View after being contacted by concerned residents, and the authority has now said it is looking into the matter and considering providing additional parking spaces to relieve some of the pressure.
Mr Skates said: “Parking has been an issue in certain areas of Brymbo for a long time, and Cheshire View in particular has suffered a lot of problems. I know from experience how difficult it can be up there, and unfortunately work done to remedy the situation a few years ago is no longer sufficient.
“Because of the proximity of the houses to the road, the creation of additional parking spaces is not possible. However, I am pleased the council has confirmed it is looking into providing extra off-road spaces behind a row of homes on Cheshire View, which would at least ease the problem slightly.”
Mr Skates added: “I will maintain dialogue with the council over this issue on behalf of my constituents in Brymbo, and I would welcome further suggestions from residents as to how the issue can be addressed.”
