Clwyd South AM & MP take up Glyn Ceiriog cashpoint concerns

Ken Skates and Susan Elan Jones have called for assurances that Glyn Ceiriog’s only cashpoint will return to working order.

The Clwyd South AM and MP have written to HSBC and Cash Zone, the company which operates the ATM in village, following concerns raised by the community council.

The machine has been out of order since being vandalised at the start of the year.

Mr Skates said: “Glyn Ceiriog has already had its bank closed, now there are concerns over whether the cashpoint will return to a working state.

“Susan and I have both asked for confirmation in writing that this issue won’t be ignored and also for a commitment from Cash Zone that it has no plans to remove or relocate the ATM, which is the only one for miles around.”

Ms Jones said: “This has been going on for months now, which is far too long for a rural community such as this. The nearest cash machine is currently Chirk or Llangollen, which is extremely inconvenient for elderly residents and those without transport.

“We’ve asked for answers on behalf of the people of Glyn Ceiriog, and will report back via the community council as soon as we have any news.”
