A Rhostyllen company’s workforce has been praised following a visit from a Welsh Assembly Member.
Ken Skates, the Labour AM for Clwyd South, was given a tour of technology firm Microtech Precision’s factory at Bersham Enterprise Centre on Friday (May 30) by managing director Brent Evans, and also discussed the Welsh Government’s pioneering broadband project Superfast Cymru.
The business has been supplying high-precision machine components to a range of sectors worldwide since 1989, including intricate parts used in the manufacture of drinks cans.
Mr Skates said: “Next time you’re having a soft drink or a beer from a can, the chances are it’s been made with machines that include components made in Rhostyllen – we’re talking billions of cans a year.
“It was fascinating to be given a tour of the factory and great to meet Brent and some of the highly-skilled workforce. It’s an excellent, market-leading company, and much of that is down to the superb and skilful staff who work there.”
