CLWYD SOUTH AM KEN SKATES praised a project aimed at getting children and young people involved in sports after a visit to Plas Madoc Leisure Centre.
The Labour AM spent the morning at the Urban Village Communities First base on Friday (August 16) to see first-hand how the scheme, run in partnership with Wrexham County Borough Council, is helping to promote a healthy lifestyle.
KEN SKATES AM said: “I was pleased to visit Communities First in Plas Madoc and enjoyed seeing how their project is aiming to introduce young people in Clwyd South to a variety of sports.
“The team put on a series of taster sessions of cricket, squash and tennis to promote physical activity and wellbeing through participation, and I could see the children and teenagers who were taking part really enjoyed themselves.
“This is a fantastic community example of how schemes like this should work and in getting children and young people doing more exercise it has already achieved its goal. I congratulate everyone at Communities First and Wrexham Council who has helped get it up and running.”
